Working for us

About volunteering

Our volunteers work alongside our project staff and service users, helping us to provide excellent services and extra support for our tenants.

Some volunteers also help in our Central Office, working with the Reception Team, the Finance Team or the Maintenance & Housing Teams.

We reimburse reasonable travel expenses and volunteers who work a full day can claim lunch expenses (£5 limit).

You do not need prior experience, just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn new things!

To find out more about volunteering with us, please contact us on - let us know if there's an area you are especially interested in.

If you are a service user or tenant interested in volunteering, please speak to your keyworker or contact the Specialist Services Team on tel: 020 7920 7328.

What we ask of our volunteers:

  • to commit to a regular weekly slot.
  • to attend training and training updates relevant to their role (for example Health & Safety training for volunteers working at our projects).

Becoming a volunteer:

We have the same recruitment process for volunteers as for permanent staff. This involves completing an application form. The form includes references, conflict of interest form, health clearance and in many cases a DBS check (Disclosure and Barring service /Criminal Records Bureau).

If you are a PRHA service user or tenant and you want to find out about volunteering with PRHA, please contact the Specialist Services Team on tel:  020 7920 7328.

About DBSchecks:

A CRB check is required for most roles at PRHA. This is a standard requirement for all staff and volunteers working with vulnerable people.  Applying for a DBS check is a straightforward process, but you should allow some time for your application to be processed and your  form to be issued. Please contact the HR team if you have any queries about DBS.

For more information about DBS checks, click on this link.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with PRHA.

Now hear from our volunteers

"Volunteering has given me an excellent insight and hands-on experience in supported housing, my chosen area of work.  I can now realistically apply for jobs in the housing field and give practical examples of the experience I've gained - something I could not have done without volunteering at PRHA."

Cathy, Housing Team volunteer
