Unlocking People Networking Day - 2009

The PRHA Offender Services team hosted a free day of networking & training in September 2009, based on the theme of working effectively with people who 'fall through the gaps' between services.  ‘Unlocking People' is aimed at services which work with offenders & ex-offenders in the boroughs of Tower Hamlets & City & Hackney. Please see attached flyer for an overview of the day.

Providence Row Housing Association manages a number of schemes that work with ex-offenders. Some offenders have mental health problems & many have drug & alcohol problems. We have many years of experience in working with service users who would otherwise 'fall through the gaps'. Typically, the people with whom we work find it very hard to engage with services, have complex multiple needs & can present challenges to services.

The aim of the day was to bring together agencies from the boroughs of Tower Hamlets, City & Hackney to share ideas, network & learn together. During the day, the teams developed key recommendations & suggestions on ways to work more closely together, deliver more 'joined-up' services & how to effectively support service users who may otherwise be 'lost' in the system.

Attendees included people working in a diverse range of services - mental health, housing, substance misuse, dual diagnosis, criminal justice system & the voluntary sector. This leaflet shows the topics covered during the day - Download PDF of overview.
